Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to examine the efficiency of materials management in industrial enterprises using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The research has been performed on the basis of the set of materials consumption indicators as input values and gross value added (GVA) as an output value. The results of the research have revealed that the food industry, the electrotechnical and electronic industry, as well as electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector and the water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities sector are the efficiency leaders regardless of the model used (CCR or BCC). The remaining industries waste the material resources while obtaining the GVA. The low efficiency in these industries is usually attributed not only to the ineffectiveness of materials management, but also to the inefficiency of the scale.
