Analysis of the cracking process of structural elements on the basis of fracture toughness characteristics determined according to standards - the stress intensity factor, J integral, crack tip opening displacement, assumes the occurrence of one crack front. In the case of a concentrated layered arrangement of non-metallic inclusions, delamination (lamellar) is often caused. Depending on the configuration of the two cracks. i.e. the main and delamination, the real fracture and impact toughness may vary significantly, resulting in a reduction as well as an increase in characteristics. The use of the values of fracture toughness in the strength analysis of the element with delamination cracking obtained in the standard test will be misleading. This paper presents the results of experimental and numerical research performed in order to assess the impact of delamination crack on the parameters of the triaxial state of stress in front of the main crack.
