In this paper a plastic deformation and a damage evolution in low-carbon cast steel containing manganese sulphide inclusions are analysed numerically and experimentally. Tensile tests of axisymmetric notched specimens with the notch radii: 1.5 mm, 3 mm and 7 mm as well as smooth specimens under hydrostatic pressure of 500 MPa have been carried out. The finite elements method has been used for modelling of deformation of the specimens. The computer simulation was performed using ABAQUS system. The computed output was compared with experimental results obtained for specimens of the same shape.
