The paper gives a proposition to determine thermal diffusivity of a medium on a base of measurement tests with a use of a thermal probe. The probe (MUPUS-TP) whose elements provide both heating and sensing, was placed in a sample under examination and recorded changes of temperature. The inverse problem of thermal diffusivity identification from temperature histories was modelled as two-dimensional in (r, z, t) - coordinates and solved with help of Trefftz method. The paper is provided with numerical examples concerning such media like PTFE, soil and ice. The computed values of thermal diffusivity for these media generally agree with those known from literature.
