The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of an additional internal absorber of pressure fluctuations on the damping performance of a hydropneumatic suspension (HPS) strut designed to ensure safe off-road driving. In the closed space of the hydraulic cylinder, a pressure fluctuation absorber (PFA) was placed between the piston and the hydro-pneumatic accumulator (HPA). An additional damping element was added to the PFA, such as a damping throttle for laminar flow or a damping orifice for turbulent flow. PFA dampens the vibrations of the hydraulic cylinder piston excited by the shock vibration of the wheel on a bumpy road. A dynamic model of HPS strut and its amplitude and phase curves are presented. The HPS solution with PFA allows for effective control of shock vibrations transmitted from the wheels to the body. This study contributes to the design of new types of adaptive HPS systems.
