Abstract:

The paper presents a method of heat transfer enhancement in phase-change heat exchangers with the use of microstructural coatings. In case of the presented experiments into boiling, significant improvement is observed with regard to heat transfer coefficient if such coatings are used in comparison to heat exchangers without it. Consequently, it is possible to produce heat exchangers which are smaller and lighter, while at the same time ensuring that the heat flux transferred by them remains the same or is increased. However, proper modelling and theoretical prediction of heat transfer performance of such enhanced exchangers is a considerable problem and a modification of a selected model has been proposed in this paper to offer a solution to this issue.
