Streszczenie:

Przedstawiono wyniki badań specjacji metali ciężkich w osadach ściekowych. Zastosowano metodykę proponowaną przez Community Bureau of Reference (BCR). Badano osady ściekowe z oczyszczalni ścieków w Daleszycach. Przepustowość oczyszczalni ścieków wynosiła 5000 RLM. Wykazano obecność metali ciężkich we wszystkich frakcjach (F-I, FII, F-III, F-IV). Należy stanowczo podkreślić, że dominującymi formami występowania analizowanych metali są połączenia metaloorganiczne oraz glinokrzemiany. Stanowi to odpowiednio frakcję III i frakcję IV wg BCR. Metalem o maksymalnej zawartości w mobilnej frakcji I był cynk (18,4%). Zawartość cynku w mobilnej frakcji II również była największa (16,1%). Cynk był więc najbardziej mobilnym metalem. Wyniki badań dla ustabilizowanych tlenowo osadów ściekowych potwierdziły obserwowaną tendencję koncentracji metali ciężkich we frakcjach niemobilnych, tu w połączeniach z glinokrzemianami (chrom - 55,9%; ołów - 95,6%).

Abstract:

The sewage sludge heavy metals can be dissolved, precipitated, precipitated with metal oxides, and adsorbed or associated on the particles in biological debris. Heavy metals are found in the form of oxides, hydroxides, sulphides, sulphates, phosphates, silicates, organic connections forming complexes with humic compounds and complex sugars. Polish regulations specify the maximum levels of heavy metals in municipal sewage sludge used for agricultural purposes referring to the total content of lead, cadmium, mercury, nickel, zinc, copper and chromium. The aim of this study was to evaluate the mobility of heavy metals in sewage sludge from wastewater treatment plants in Daleszyce (the Świętokrzyskie Province). The wastewater treatment plant is located in the river Belnianka floodplain which is a part of the buffer zone of the Cisowsko-Orłowiński Landscape Park. The Daleszyce wastewater treatment plant of the capacity of 5000 PE uses the activated sludge method complemented with the system of sequencing batch reactors (SBR). Stabilized sewage sludge from the wastewater treatment plant in Daleszyce was analyzed in accordance with the extraction method proposed by the Community Bureau of Reference (BCR). Zinc, cadmium, lead and nickel were determined by means of the standard addition with the use of the Perkin-Elmer 3100-BG FAAS atomic absorption spectrophotometer (with the background correction function turned on). Chromium and copper were tested using the FAAS technique. In order to determine mercury the CVAAS method was employed. The sequence analysis revealed the presence of heavy metals in all fractions (F-I, F-II, F-III, F-IV). It should be strongly emphasised that organometallics and aluminosilicates constitute the most prevalent forms of metals under consideration. Those, according to BCR, make fraction III and fraction IV, respectively. The maximum content of heavy metals in the mobile fraction I was found for zinc (18.4%). In the mobile fraction II, zinc again turned out to be a heavy metal of the maximum content (16.1%). Zinc was thus the most mobile metal. The results for oxygen stabilized sewage sludge confirmed a trend being observed in heavy metals concentration in the immobile fractions, here in combination with aluminosilicates (chromium - 55.9%, lead - 95.6%). On the basis of the investigations, it can be concluded that the dominant forms of heavy metals are immobile. It was shown that the total content of heavy metals in the sewage sludge does not provide an objective criterion for the environmental risk evaluation. Bearing that in mind, however, it should be noted that heavy metals immobilized in the fraction F-III, may pose a potential hazard to soil in the aeration zone.
